Malaysia Flight

April 16th, 2010 § 0

Yay for an iPhone app that can check available flights and show me the cheapest ticket within minutes. Comparing results from all airlines available in Malaysia while on-the-go was never so simple!

I’m totally digging Malaysia Flight, a flight search engine application that is very useful for frequent travelers like me loves exploring local Malaysian hideouts and the SEA region. I know. I love my country alot! Minus those incompetent politicians of course.

Malaysia Flight

Tada tada tada! Bought it at USD1.99 and it is worth every single cent! Check out the clean and neat user interface. This app is so straightforward and intuitive, nobody could go wrong with it!

Malaysia Flight

Start by searching for the dates I want. Then decide whether I want a returned trip and results will be out in seconds!

Relevant flights are clearly listed according to Price, Time or Airlines. The tabs are right on the top of the screen.

Malaysia Flight

After selecting the departing and returning flight of my choice, I just have to double-check the details before emailing the flight details to myself!

Haha. Yes, I still have to book the flights I’ve chosen at the respective airline’s webbie. I know! That’s such a boo boo right? But then again, the main rah rah of this application is to reduce research time for flights. Good enough. Now, I can do flight research and plan for short domestic escapades while commuting to work. Planning for a holiday is especially heartening on a deary Monday.

(:

To email the flight details, just click on the tiny envelope icon on the top right corner.

Malaysia Flight

OMG so cheap right? The return tickets are also less than RM100.  I’m so gonna go Penang again. Each trip always leaves me wanting to come back for more. Don’t worry. This time, I promise I’ll blog about it.

Oh good news. Expect more makan trips from me after I’m back from Australia in Mid-May. I just RSVP-ed for an exclusive foodie trail at Batu Pahat in June and Cablenazi may be bringing me along for a business trip to Shanghai! And of course, I shall reveal more of my recommended haunts in JB.

I’ll be right back.

The Miele Guide 2009/2010 iPhone App

February 25th, 2010 § 0

I’m quite excited to preview The Miele Guide! It is said to be the perfect sidekick for all serious foodies and gourmet travelers with iPhones! Yes this is an iPhone App. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, then you are able to download and try out the application!

For serious foodies and travelers, you’ll be pleased to know that there are 450 restaurant reviews  in this mobile guide! Ever since I’ve got Chuck, my trusty iPhone has become the most convenient way to figure out what I want to eat!

The Miele Guide 09/10

I’m able to search The Miele Guide by restaurant name, top rankings, city or cuisine. it’s such an easy-peasy application. I’ll show you what I mean!

The Miele Guide 09/10

Personally I like searching via Cities! OK there are 16 Asian countries listed here: Brunei, Cambodia, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. And… I pick Hong Kong!

The Miele Guide 09/10

The Top 5 restaurants for each country is listed in the guide and each country chapter features an insider’s perspective of the country’s dining scene written by The Miele Guide’s shortlist panellists, who are top restaurant critics and food writers in their respective home countries.

The Miele Guide 09/10

Yung Kee is listed under the Hong Kong! The place where Ken and I drop by for roasted goose when we were there last year! Well, if you are having cravings for a particular cuisine and is willing to plan your holiday around that craving, just search via Cuisines! I can just mark my favourite restaurants and plan my meal itinerary in advance.

The Miele Guide 09/10

I’ll go with Japanese. And woah. That’s alot of suggestions and lots of cities! Wasabi by Marimoto in Mumbai, India sounds interesting.

The Miele Guide 09/10

But honestly, I think the best best feature of this application is its ability to detect where I am and recommend the nearest top restaurants from The Miele Guide. That’s not all. The map views also show directions on how to get to restaurants. Don’t you love your iPhone? I love mine!

The Miele Guide 09/10

The Miele Guide is available via the Apple iTunes App Store at US$4.99. Kinda steep but that’s the price to pay to have Asia’s best chefs and restaurants at your fingertips. Check out www.mieleguide.com if you are interested.

Motorola DEXT launch

January 25th, 2010 § 2

Was invited by Ivy, Singtel to the launch of Motorola’s first Android-powered phone. Thanks! (:

It’ s been a while since we last heard any news from Motorola. Well gotta give them credit for trying. What caught my eye when I saw this phone was the conversation bubbles all over the home screen. Woah. Conversation threads, friend updates, stories, links, photos and more are automatically delivered to live widgets on the home screen. Interesting. Widgets.

What you think? The bubbles looked pretty cute right? But will you be distracted by the real-time updates on the embedded widgets which link directly to Facebook and Twitter? One thing for sure, those who don’t mind will be pleased with the smooth integration Motorola DEXT offers with MOTOBLUR.

What’s MOTOBLUR? In a techie noob terms, its a useful system designed for blur people like me. MOTOBLUR combines various social networking portals such as Facebook and Twitter all in one place without the need of logging into each service separately. This means I can post a status update to one or multiple accounts at once. That explains the ‘everything else is anti-social’ tagline.

Trying to psycho Ken to get an iPhone too when his plan expires but he is still looking around for one with a QWERTY keyboard. DEXT should be ok and it even comes with a pretty responsive touchscreen, but I think it is a tad bulky at 15.6mm thick. Not very handbag friendly. Honestly, it is not very sexy so there’s nothing much on the form factor for me to elaborate further.

I guess this phone is more function than style. So for a techie review, check out what Joe thinks of the Motorola DEXT.

As for the launch event at Helipad, it rocked because the bloggers were awesome as usual. Enjoyed the after-launch at the rooftop lounge! That’s me with sunshine Sidney. His caption: Kiddies on the loose. Eh how old are we again? *giggles*

Slim and stylish Samsung ST550

September 17th, 2009 § 0

You know, using Pete, my dslr can be a pain sometimes. Especially when I want to camwhore haha. Taking self-portrait photos on cameras with only 1 LCD can be a pain. I can’t see myself from the camera and I’ll only know how I look after the shot is taken! Also, the angle and the focus can go weird because I can’t really see where the focus point is.

So finally, Samsumg gave consumers what they want! A hidden 1.5” LCD at the front of the camera! And the world’s highest resolution 3.5” wide touch screen LCD on the reverse side! WOOOOHOO.

The worlds first compact cameras with front and rear LCDs!

With this wonderful screen in front, I can take accurate portraits using the front image as a guide! Eh I don’t even have to press the shutter button! A big smile will trigger it to snap. Actually the display in the front is meant for naughty, fidgety kids as well! The screen can play some cute animation that can catch the attention of naughty, fidgety kids who refused to look at the right direction! Haha.

Cute animation for naughty, fidgety kids

Oh here’s a pic SL took of us with the Samsung ST550!

Me and SL at MOS Burger

Yup we were looking at the front LCD! hehe. The pic turned out quite clear and clean right? Well, Samsung ST550 is a 12.2 mega pixel camera and it also uses the perfect combination of a 27mm wide angle Schneider KREUZNACH lens with 4.6x optical zoom! This allows us a wider shooting range from a shorter distance!

Pleaseeeee can someone buy me a Samsung ST550 pleaseeeee!!!!

You can read more on the launch from Techielobang and I shall continue my take on the INQ Mini 3G!

INQ Mini 3G comes in red, pink, yellow, green, blue, black, glossy black!

What's your favourite?

What's your favourite colour?

I think the pink one looks very cheery!

I think the pink one looks very cheery!

INQ Mini 3G is deeply integrated with Twitter, Facebook, IM and email! Indeed, this phone was conceived to feed the social networking faze. I’m not a very smart phone user so I value simplicity and ease of use. Thus, whilst fiddling with the INQ Mini 3G at the launch, I find that it is intuitive and it’s really fast.

Fiddling with the phone!

Fiddling with the phone!

Perhaps speed is uncompromised when Facebook is not “on” your phone, but “in” your phone. That’s a smart line move  from INQ Mobile! Haha.

INQ Mobile Launch

What’s more, there’s the Active Address Book. With this function, I am able to add, merge, remove and selectively choose contacts to display from Facebook and Twitter! All my contacts are in the same address book! A little like Meebo but in my mobile phone instead! Cool right?

Also, the main inbox where we normally store our smses, contain seperate folders for Facebook messages, pokes, requests as well as email!

VERY impressive. Check out the ‘carousel-style’ menu with one-click access to Facebook and Twitter.

'Carousel-style' menu!

INQ is quite stylish and deep thoughts had been put into its marketing campaign. Last month, there was a design competition organanised by Singtel to encourage budding artists and designers to express themselves freely! As a result, interesting works which incorporated elements of social and music activities in Singapore were borned! I love supporters of the arts.

OOO Check out what they did with the art works!

What are these?

What are these?

It’s the INQ Mini 3G’s manual! Looks like a beautiful deck of cards!
:)

BTW there’s cute cupcakes at the event and the most popular one is the Twitter cupcakes!

Cute!

Cute!

Everyone wants a Twitter! lol. Must thank Justin for the Twitter cupcake! He’s really sweet. More cupcakes pictures taken from Tech65!

INQ Mini 3G will hit the stores on September 19th. Heard that it’s going to be very affordable since it’s meant to be a low-cost budget Social Mobile Featurephone!
